Eloping with the Laird by
A man
she can trust…
With her life…and
her heart?
Ordered by her father to choose a husband by the end of the Highland Games—or he will select one for her—widow Moira Fraser hastily elopes with Rory McKenna, Laird of Blackmore. But they soon discover neither is free of the past. Rory has a price on his head, and needs an heir as soon as possible, and Moira’s horrible first marriage has left her afraid of letting her new husband close…
My Review:
Moira Fraser refuses to have another
marriage arranged for her, after her last turned out to be violent and
controlling. Rory McKenna, a man who is dying, seems like the perfect choice, she
certainly won’t have to be married for very long! Rory desperately needs an heir before
he dies, and when Moira makes her unusual proposal, he agrees, even though he
has been messed about in the past. When Moira’s Father once again tries to choose
her a husband, Moira takes fate into her own hands and elopes with Rory, before
anyone can choose a man for her. Neither of them believe they can have a happy marriage, it's purely a temporary solution to their problems. However, the two begin to develop strong feelings, but
is it enough to save each other?
This was a gorgeous romance novel and also heart-breaking in parts, the author has covered some very serious topics. Both characters really have to fight to try and have a happily ever after. While reading this book you experience a rollercoaster of emotions. I loved both characters, it was heart-warming how Rory gave Moira the time she needed to trust him, and he also gave her respect and support when she told him all that she had been through. I liked how Moira was very matter of fact and forward with what she wanted, she was such a strong woman. I loved this book and I am really looking forward to reading more of Jeanine Englert’s novels, I love how she writes!
