Her
Legendary Highlander
Synopsis:
Cast out from her family, Andreona has one last attempt at impressing
her father by capturing Malcolm and his friend, who are on their own mission. When
she takes her prisoners to offer to her father, she learns the horrid truth about her
banishment. Because of his own family betrayals, Malcolm is sympathetic and
protective towards Andreona and when she later requests to accompany him on his
quest, he begrudgingly allows her, understanding she needs to escape mentally
as well as physically.
When they set off, they are virtually strangers, but both
recognise the pain and betrayal in each other and gradually become
closer. Set at the end of the 13th century, the story follows Malcolm and
Andreona’s journey through various countries as they travel to Scotland. There
is an undeniable attraction and chemistry between them, but when the two get
physically close, Malcolm pulls away emotionally, scared to get too close
to someone. Can Malcolm and Andreona help each other overcome past traumas and
find true happiness in each other?
Her Legendary Highlander is part of a series, this book being
the final instalment. Nicole Locke’s descriptive writing builds a detailed
picture of the characters and their surroundings so well. There were a lot of characters and I struggled to remember who everyone was near the end of the story, and at times a couple of their backstories were difficult
for me to follow. However, it is very much a standalone book. I am keen to go and read the rest of the series now that I have
finished Her Legendary Highlander. If the rest of the stories are anything like this one, I know I will love them too! I really enjoyed reading this novel and
devoured it in only two sittings. Highly recommended for those of you who like
history, romance, and adventure.
