The story follows Savaric, a member
of the Knights Fortitude, investigating a plot against the king by the
Duo Dracones. And Marguerite, who is now a spy and also working to bring down the Duo
Dracones, after they almost killed her two years ago. She has been at the
French Court collecting information and has since travelled back to England in
disguise. The two were once romantically involved, but
after Savaric ended things, Marguerite was left broken hearted. Can they work through their issues and back into each other's arms? And, with danger at every turn, can they work together to bring down the Duo Dracones and save the crown?
Her Unforgettable Knight is a love story about the reconnection of two people who are still very much in love, and it is also action packed and full of adventure! The story had my full attention instantly, within the first few pages our two main characters bump into each other after two years apart and there is also an action-packed fight scene. Throughout the book, I found myself desperately trying to guess what would happen next! The author also included the important topic of Savaric being of mixed racial heritage and how this impacted his life, living in medieval England. Both characters go through a bit of a transformation, Marguerite is different to when Savaric first met her, she is no longer a damsel in distress, instead she is now self-assured, strong-willed and feisty. She also has fighting skills to rival his own! And Savaric redeems himself when we find out he didn't break Marguerite's heart out of malice, but for a different heart-breaking reason altogether. I loved both characters, they were so well-written and complemented each other so well!
This book provided a satisfying conclusion to the Protectors
of the Crown series. If
you like historical romances, then I highly recommend reading this series and Melissa Oliver's other books!
